Hope is Great, Real Proof is Better

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke predicted that the economy will improve before the end of 2009, but the country just might not notice it. Bernanke recently told Congress that he believes the economy is nearing the bottom and will start a gradual rise by the end of this year. According to the Associated Press, the Federal Reserve Chairman tempered this hopeful news with a prediction that there would also be "further sizable job losses" in the coming months.

Government agencies have had to mandate rules and regulations regarding the types of items that can come in and leave their country. But as long as they can keep their jobs their paychecks in most cases will remain the same. For small business owners a recession is often felt in the pocketbook. With less people buying their goods and services their revenues and profit margins can start to sink. And it can be painful for a number of reasons.

The economy is in a downward trend. The housing boom that gave rise to about a thousand buy-and-flip-this-real-estate television shows and created little mini-investors all over the country has become more of a whisper than a boom. You know that when even that gorgeous house that underwent an extreme home makeover hits foreclosure, the market is crazy, right? Actually, that is not really true, as when the real estate industry suffers, it is often the higher-end homes and the lower-end homes that take the biggest financial hit.
