I’m Not A Dumb Drummer!

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

The drummer by definition has to be the most rock and roll member of the band. You have to be a little unhinged to be a drummer. All that time spent banging definitely seems to have an effect. It is remarkable therefore that some of the finest drummers seem to be strangely sensible. Take Phil Collins, Dave Grohl and John Densmore. These guys for some of the most hardcore bands ever to grace the planet (Nirvana and The Doors that is - I'm not sure Genesis could be called hardcore!) yet they have achieved phenomenal individual success despite, by definition, being a screw loose.

Playing Styles Either With Or Without Preparation

Friday, July 9th, 2010

Although individual playing styles and hand positions will vary tremendously from one player to another, essentially there are two basic techniques which can be used when it comes to plucking a string with the fingers. Generally these can be considered to be either with or without preparation, and depending upon which type of stroke is used, a different sound and tone can be achieved. Blink 182 Tickets - Evolution

Saturday, July 3rd, 2010

Blink 182 personified the genre of sophomoric punk rock when they broke onto the scene in 1997 with their third album, Dude Ranch. Propelled by the success of the high-school anthem "Dammit," the band became known on a large scale throughout the United States. The song is about growing up and how it's not always easy for teens to come to grips with situation and events at certain points in their lives. The song is filled with the kind of adolescent angst that plagues most teens. "And it's happened once again/I'll turn to a friend/Someone that understands/Sees through the master plan/But everybody's gone/and I've been here for too long/To face this on my own /Well I guess this is growing up," the lyrics go.

Brooks, the Academy of Country Music's Artist of the Decade for the 1990s, passed on the torch to Strait gladly as the all-star event at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas attracted Jamie Foxx, Jamey Johnson, Toby Keith, Sugarland and Lee Ann Womack, among many other stars.
